Flightplan
Africa is such a big country. It’s one thing looking at it on Google Maps or something similar or to cross it by plane. It is really huge. But also very interesting from scenery perspective. We left Lagos in the morning prepared for our flight into Luanda, which will be half the way to Cape Town, which will be our destiantion of leg 9. As you can see on the flightplan, we were more or less following the coastlines passing Cameroon, Congo and Angola.
The airport of Luanda is located in the middle of the town, surrounded by buildings in literally any direction. Obviously people are living there, but the houses are extremely close to the airport. I’m wondering why this is. There is so much space…
The weather during the flight was nice, but a bit windy. We had pretty strong headwind from the left. which influenced the fuel consumption much more than expected. We were close to running out of fuel, but finally we made it without problems.
